It's been awhile but here it comes...

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

Hello everyone,

I'm so happy to be sitting down at last to write to you and want to begin by updating you on my new book, Becoming Forest: A Story of Deep Belonging, and sharing some short videos about the book make by an Irish friend, Irene Fenton. Big thank you, Irene!

The book was published in hardcover and ebook on October 3, 2023. It was just recently published as a audiobook (with me reading).

The first video features former president of Ireland and UN special climate envoy, Mary Robinson, who just last week made the headlines when she courageously challenged the president of Cop28, Sultan Al Jaber, on the need to phase out fossil fuels as soon as possible. I am so grateful to her for her endorsement for my book:

The second of these (same music!) is my dear friend and mentor, Joanna Macy's endorsement:

The third and final is a slightly longer clip taken from a book event at Chaucer's Books on 10 October, where I talk about redwoods and "deep resilience," the concept at the heart of both the book and the related Becoming Forest Project:

In the very near future, I will be back to tell you more about The Becoming Forest Project. Beginning in January 2024, I plan to write a monthly blog, sharing stories, ideas, and resources related to Becoming Forest, the book and the project.

In closing, for now, I have a request. If you have read or listened to "Becoming Forest," and liked it, and feel you could (honestly!) give it a 5-star recommendation, please consider writing a short review on Amazon. I am told that the number of 5-star endorsements a book receives affects both its ranking and how it's highlighted on the site.

Happy Solstice, and wishing you all deeply well this holiday season,

Michael
